KOHLER COURT

Posted by mhsalumni on August 6, 2019

Need some help from some of you “elderly” alumni that might remember the Kohler Court apartments on the corner of Center and Main.  We have a young man who purchased the buildings and is doing a great job of remodeling and landscaping.  He would really like a little history about the date the buildings were built, anyone who lived there or if anyone can remember who lived there.  It seems so good to see some of the young kids in town  taking an interest and working to make Milford look better.  We are pretty happy because they are next door to us and haven’t been in use for some time.  The young man who is doing the upgrading is Adrian Jones who is the son of Dave and Virginia Jones.  He is married to Michaela Yardley.  He has purchased several old homes in Milford and has totally refurbished and landscaped them.  He owns a Landscaping Business here in Milford and has branched out to other areas around Milford.  He is quite successful and we are so proud of him.  Please respond and see if we can get some information for him.  Charles Baxter did say that he thought the buildings were built in the early l930’s.  He is usually pretty accurate with his information.

PLEASE RESPOND AND LETS GET THE BLOG GOING AGAIN.

Regarding the ‘Kohler Apartments’, the early 30s sounds right (several of us elderly alumni were ‘made’ during the 30s!). I have vague memories of a story my dad told me about someone living in one of the units making bathtub gin during prohibition, which of course ended in 1933. Sounds like a lively kind of place! And, I’m pretty sure my brother Gerald and his wife Jeanette lived there briefly just before Gerald was drafted. He may have further information. Good on Adrian Jones for taking them on!
    Go Tigers!

I agree Lucy, we are happy to see improvements on those little houses, I hope anyone who reads the post and remembers anything will respond! Keep it going!

I love this post and Lucille has hit the nail on the head! My brother Roland and his wife Glenda lived in the apartment just north of Lucille and Wayne’s house (in which a Carter family lived in at the time) and that would have been late 40s early 50s! I got hooked into baby sitting 2 kids so often (scammed really) that I didn’t know who I belonged to.

Farrell and Dorothy Fotheringham lived in the corner unit in the 50s. Nurse Donna Tolley lived in one of the units on Center Street. (The “Carter family” – Dwight and May, Stephen, Colleen and ??)
