A Parade & a Ball Game, Whats better?

Hi guys,
While I was labeling some more photos, I ran across these two “oldies”. I thought the picture of the 1962 basketball team was fun because it shows the old gym. Notice the ancient score board up on the wall. The other picture is of a early parade in Milford. I don’t have any details on this one nor do I know the men on the horses.
Maybe some one can help us identify them. Good work on the blog. It’s fun to check in and see what has been

Friends from the 60′s Part I

I am sending some old photo’s that an old friend of Ron and I sent to us after hearing of the death of Rick Berger. He thought Ron and I might enjoy seeing them. We always go to the MHS website and have always enjoyed looking at the old and new photo’s that are posted so we thought you might like to post these, brought back lots of good memories. Old 49ers Photos

Sent to us from Nedra Wunderlich Kennedy, she says they were given to her by Enoch (Nick) Swain of a 49ers celebration. Old timers will recognize some of the Milfordites. Thanks to Nedra for sharing. This celebration is alluded to in the reflections column above, but I see now, the dates were in the early 50s. Click on a photo and you will view this as a slide show, look for directional arrows at left & right of each photo. Check for Pat Wilcock, Lynne Bracken and help us out with the 3rd royal girl (center). See Marvin Horton with the movie starlet (unknown) in the convertible with Robt. S Davis driving and Bob Carter riding Shotgun. In the photo with Hoot Gibson on the left you can see Pat Williams and young steve at far right.

Old Fashioned Christmas

We were so tickled to get these great Christmas pictures from Brad and Linda Weston.

Linda writes:

It’s been awhile since I’ve been back scanning some more “old Milford memories”. Since it’s Christmas time, I couldn’t resist sending some of the Weston’s enjoying “Christmas in the good old days” when we loved throwing icicles on the fresh, just cut tree. We sure didn’t realize just how simple and quiet those days were. I sent the one of all the Weston’s showing a real live pinion pine tree. I can still smell how fragrant those real trees were!

That was quite the train set Brad!

This 1953 Christmas looks like another good one for the Weston Family, Thank you Brad and Linda for sharing them with us! Pheasant Hunt

November is time to put the rifles away and get out the shotguns for the Pheasant Hunting Season.We think this picture was taken at the “Club House” on the Milford Flat sometime in the 40′s. Didn’t they used to serve a lunch out there on the opening day? Does anyone recognize any of these dapper hunters?

The Deer Hunt

Growing up in Milford, October meant Deer Hunt! It was time to pull out those red sweatshirts or red flannel shirts and pin the hunting licence to your hat. We have had this picture for a while waiting to post it in October. Thanks Brad, how about identifying the camp crew for us.

We have gotten word that the Next MHS Reunion will be held August 31, September 1 and 2, 2012, Labor Day weekend! Chairman Tim Fisher and his committee have a great time planned, please mark your calendars now!

Milford Swimming Pool

Barry (Hawkeye) Bird brought it to our attention , that the photos we posted earlier (Sept.) of the swimming pool in 1953 were reversed, the deep end was shown as being at the north end of the pool. We are adding the pictures as Barry transposed them. This pool replaced an earlier one on the same site in the late 40′s. The earlier one had wooden planks as a border (some of you may recall slivers in your feet), there were also cabanas rather than common dressing areas. This info was verified with help from Pat
Turner Davis. There is a chance that Perry Lee Neal MHS coach was the first manager.

1958 MHS Cagers

This pic was sent to us, yep, by Brad & Linda Weston. It was published in the 1958 yearbook, however the published picture lacked the scanned quality of this photo. Standing L-R are: Coach Lee Pettey (remember the years of just one athletic coach for all sports)? Larry Lofthouse, Gale Anderson, Paul McGinn, David Bown, Paul Wyatt, Boyd Horton, Mack Whittiker & Mgr. Brad Weston. Kneeling: Wayne Hardy, Arden Fowles, Eddie Tomsik, Robert Davis and Denny Belliston.
