HAPPY 58th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!

Posted by mhsreporter on September 16, 2010

Richard and Shirley Fisher were married the afternoon of September 16, 1952 in Denver, Colorado by Philip B. Gilliam Judge. As the judge pronounced us husband and wife, the large clock on top of the Court House struck 4:00pm. Upon returning to Milford we went to several of our classmates homes to tell them of our news and a couple of the parents told us that we were to young to get married and that they would give us 6 months before we were divorced. We are still working towards the six months. On December 3, 1966 we were sealed in the Oakland Temple for Time and All Eternity! We are blessed with four daughters and a son. We now have five daughters and five sons, Seventeen grandchildren, fourteen grandsons and three granddaughters, seven great grandchildren, four great grandsons and three great granddaughters. Our posterity continues to grow.

A Scent of Lavender

Posted by mhsalumni on August 6, 2010

MHS Alumni Margaret Whittaker Miller class of 1961 has published a book! She has had a lot of success with it and has held several book signings around the county selling out at each one. It is a fun story of a school teacher that moves to Frisco in 1879 to teach a group of unruly children. The story has it all, a little romance, lots of adventure and a little mystery. We love the cover and recognize the beloved Granites in the background. If you would like a copy it is available on Amazon.com

Margaret has retired from 34 years of teaching English and business at Milford High School. She is married to Dennis Miller class of 1961 and they make their home in Milford.

Them Good Old Days!

Posted by mhsreporter on July 9, 2010

I found this picture in Mom and Dad’s old photos and sent an email to Nellie Schow Hoyt asking what the occasion was. She replied, “It was a show they did at the high school and the whole cast was in black out. They put on a good show!” Sitting left to right is Bill Kirk, Nellie Schow, Lois Kirk and Jake Schow, the time line is the late 40′s to early 50′s.

NEW EXPERIENCES!

Posted by mhsreporter on May 28, 2010

Pictured are David Holm and Hilda O’Leary on David’s motorcycle. Kathy relates that David had come by to visit with one of her boys while they were visiting with Kathy’s Mother. Hilda asked Kathy to ask David if he would give her a ride. She (Hilda) had never been on a motorcycle and had always wanted to ride on one. Kathy thought her mother was to old for such an adventure at (66). Now that I am 82, it seems that she was just a kid. Mother really enjoyed her ride as shown by her big smile.

MEMORIES OF TIMES PAST!

Posted by mhsreporter on April 27, 2010

Kathlyn Holm submitted this picture of her mother standing in the midst of  sheep owned by Mr. Hendrickson. Mother and Dad worked for Mr. Hendrickson for nine or ten years. Along with the sheep he had cows, work horses, alfalfa crops and a large garden. Kathlyn received rollerskates for her birthday one year and she would roller skate on the hard clay soil in the alfalfa fields that didn’t produce alfalfa.

CHEERLEADERS THEN AND NOW!

Posted by mhsreporter on April 12, 2010

MORE GREAT PICTURES!

Just received these two photographs  from Farrell and Dorothy Fotheringham. The first photo was taken from the 1947 Mill-Ford Yearbook. Left to right are Dolores Bradfield Hegland, Farrell Fotheringham and Shirlene Gillins. The second photo was taken at the 2006 Grand Reunion. Left to right are Shirlene Gillins Barnes, Farrell Fotheringham and Dolores Bradfield Hegland. Just a few changes in their appearances. I wonder if Farrell can still do the flips and cartwheels he was known for while cheerleading?

Forty-Niners’ Day Picnic

Posted by mhsreporter on March 16, 2010

This photo was taken at a picnic about 1945-1946, on Forty- Niners’ Day. For this celebration the men would grow beards and enter a contest for the longest beard, thickest beard and the most unique beard. There would be a parade also on that day to celebrate the Gold Rush of 1849.

If you look closely you can see the men in the picture all have beards. There were prizes in many categories for the beard growing contest. Joyce pointed out that she didn’t think any of the men in the picture won any prizes.

left to right, back row: Richard Foerster, Leah Foerster, Earl Thompson, Carlyle Gronning, Eugene Gronning, Joyce Gronning and Blanche Gronning. left to right, front row: Barbara Thompson, Pat Gronning, Joyce Foerster, Carlene Gronning, Marjorie Thompson and Bernice Thompson.

Thank you Joyce Foester El-Mogazi for this wonderful picture. Please keep them coming. We at the Blog enjoy making entries for all MHS Alumni to enjoy. Just a quick note, Barbara Thompson Clark  baby sat three of our children while we lived in Milford up to 1960, Shirley and Richard Fisher.
