Old Fashioned Christmas

Posted by mhsalumni on December 10, 2011

We were so tickled to get these great Christmas pictures from Brad and Linda Weston.

Linda writes:

It’s been awhile since I’ve been back scanning some more “old Milford memories”. Since it’s Christmas time, I couldn’t resist sending some of the Weston’s enjoying “Christmas in the good old days” when we loved throwing icicles on the fresh, just cut tree. We sure didn’t realize just how simple and quiet those days were. I sent the one of all the Weston’s showing a real live  pinion pine tree. I can still smell how fragrant those real trees were!

That was quite the train set Brad!

Grandma Metta with her beautiful needlepoint pillow, Gary, Linda, Alan and Brad.

This 1953 Christmas looks like another good one for the Weston Family, Thank you Brad and Linda for sharing them with us! Please Please send us any of your old Christmas pictures, trees, parties or any that you might have. For a blast from the past look at the Archives on the left side of the screen and click on June 2009 for a great picture of Milford Main Street with the famous Red Bells that used to decorate downtown Milford.

Merry Christmaas to you all!

Can any of you Milford Historians tell us where was Milford City’s Christmas tree standing during the 40′s and 50′s?

We remember it across from the Corner Drug and south of the Flat Iron Building (L&B-old Hong Kong). Some people making a U turns would swing wide and pick up the lights and drag them off the tree. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Great New Year. See you at tje reunion next summer.

I also remember that for a time probably during the 50′s that the the tree was in the middle of main street at 3rd south, the intersection of Jefferson’s, Milford State Bank, the Standard (Chevron) station. It made a kind of roundabout out of main street.
