These two photos are of Vance Fisher and Milton Pool taken in the JC Penney Store. They are very similar but the bottom photo shows the merchandise on the top shelf better, the strollers and baby buggy’s are wonderful. These are two more of Richard Fisher’s gems,
he didn’t know the year and we were wondering what the celebration was for.

Milford homes
Posted by mhsalumni on July 24, 2009
The first picture is sent by Pat Davis is the old Bradfield Home, we especially love the chicken in the road! What is the date Pat?
The House on the left is the old Sherrif home that is on the intersection of Highway 21. This one is from Richard Fishers great collection.
Luciel Hardy sent us this photo of the old Sherrif home as it looks today. It is owned by Thomas and Karen Tubbs and they are working on restoring it. It is wonderful to see this old house saved!

Hughes
Posted by mhsalumni on July 22, 2009
How many of us spent all of our money in this store? Mrs Hugh’s Style Shoppe was the place to buy that Janzen sweater or cute skirt or dress. It was also the florist where we got the corsages for the Jr. Prom and any other floral arrangement you wanted. This picture of Phyllis Keetch and Mrs Hughes is small but it is as large as we could make it. It was taken at the Milford Centennial as was the picture below of the Hughes Float in the parade.

One of our favorite places
Posted by mhsalumni on July 20, 2009
Remember the Picnics, Band Concerts, on this grass just south of the depot? Thanks Richard for this photo.
We had our 6th grade picnic served by the Hong Kong courtesy of Mayer Kizer .
This newspaper clipping from the SL Trib. isn’t very clear and there is a hole in the middle but it shows the class of ’60. How many of you wore the great safety vest and got to hold that long pole with the red flag on the end? Using your power and stopping the cars was the best!

MHS Teachers
Posted by mhsalumni on July 13, 2009
We don’t know what the occasion was for the frilly aprons but we sure know these ladies. Alice Elmer, beloved teacher, Pauline Rummler, much loved secretary at the school for years, Fran Goble, she and husband were teachers and at the last reunion , and Mary McCully another much loved teacher. Even though the picture is scratched we still appreciate having it. Thank you Ken Elmer.

These silly girls are having a good time, we can guess a few of them but Cheryl Wunderlich in front is a dead ringer for her Mom Beulah in the next picture! Let us know if you are in there!
This picture has written on the back:
Beulah Eyre Wunderlich, Beverly Dotson Davis and Gladys Marshall Pitchforth. No year, but they are sure cute!

The La Tienda
Posted by mhsalumni on July 9, 2009
This store was owned in the early 50′s by Vance Fisher, standing in the window are Mr. & Mrs. Eldridge (jeweler), and Luella, Dorothy, Richard and Vance Fisher. We all remember it on Main Street.
These two pictures were taken at an Easter Egg hunt in the vacant lot south of the La Tienda, look closely, are you in there??
We recognize a few of you, any idea who the Easter Bunny is?
Does anyone remember this? Were you one of those eager kids ready to run in and find the candy?

Muddy Main Street
Posted by mhsalumni on July 6, 2009
More amazing pictures from Richard Fisher. This early street picture of Milford is unique taken before paving the road and if you look closely , you can see a group of people sitting around something……playing cards? Shooting craps? or just visiting?
What is your guess?
This is the best picture we have seen of our Elementary School. Wasn’t it a good looking building? Too bad the old must make way for the new!

Remembering Milford
Posted by mhsalumni on July 5, 2009
Darcia Dalton Day sent us these photos, she only lived in Milford for a few years, but she says that they were some of the happiest years for her family and she loves to keep up on her old classmates, she was in the class of 1965. She is looking forward to the reunion in September.
Here are some pictures of the neighborhood kids Darcia with the Wisner Boys and some girl friends, the last one is of her Dad Alma Dalton and Babe Ruth. Babe will be in Milford for the Grand Reunion, we are looking forward to hearing his Milford Stories.
We would like to thank Darcia for the pictures, there are many more neighborhood kids that we will put on our DVD.
Could that sno-cone at Babe’s feet be a leftover from a 49er celebration? Sno-cones were never so good as they were then!

Milford July 4th
Posted by mhsalumni on July 4, 2009
We hit the Jackpot! Richard Fisher (class of 52) sent some truly wonderful pictures, we will be posting them over the next few days. We thought we would start with these parade pictures because it is the Fourth of July. Double click on the photo for a larger view.
The above Photo is Vance Fisher, Zeke Hickman, Jim Hickman, Bill Kirk and Jake Scow in a 4th of July parade in the mid 1940′s Can you tell us what is building with the white pillars that is north of the Horn Silver Hotel where Shay’s is now?
Richard says this is a float on the back of his grandfather’s truck that he used to deliver milk to many of the people and grocery stores in Milford while he had his dairy farm. From left Richard, Norman Fisher, Dorothy Fisher, Parley Fisher, his grandfather and Vance Fisher his Dad. The year is 1939 or 1940.
We know that we all think back fondly to the 4th celebrations when we were kids in Milford, the firecrackers, the parade ,the races at the park, the Crackerjack and best of all the fireworks!
Isn’t this a wonderful one?! Looking south on main street, the tuba player is in front of the bank. Milford looks like a big city!
More Bands and parades, Thank you Richard for sharing these amazing pictures. The best part is trying to identify the location on main street where the photographer is standing.

Mayor Kizer
Posted by mhsalumni on July 3, 2009
Do you think Mayor Sherwood could get away with this today? Mayor Kizer looks like he is enjoying it, but the look on the contestans face says it all. Does anyone know who she is? It looks like they are at the swimming pool and note he was a good sport and was measured too!

Times have changed and you gotta love his shoes!
Ray Kizer was the Mayor during the 50′s and he was a terrific Mayor. Yearly he had a citizenship scholarship at the High School for the Juniors and presented them with a check for their class sweaters. His daughter Toni Rollins sent me a clipping where he was presenting it to Nora Ann Walker and David Killiam along with a check for $23.00 the amount of the sweaters!! He was Milford’s Mayor for four terms starting in 1952.
Thank you Toni for the pictures.
